Professional Learning can be a variety of scholarly and professional activities. Each planned activity needs to generate evidence of practice based scholarship through experience.

Participants are recommended to plan them in advance but plans can be amended retrospectively.:

A plan would normally list activities,  dates, duration, and outcomes or evidence to be archived or recorded in the portfolio in the evidence section. For example, an analysis of the literature would be evidenced by a literature review document and reference list. An observation of an expert would be evidenced by an observation record. (See table above)3 An analysis of impact and learning outcomesThis is section 4 of the portfolio and should be the main section of about 2-3000 words.

In this section you should

1. Construct a brief overview of the experiential and research evidence derived from the planned activities
2. You should synthesize the evidence to show:
•    Impact on your knowledge and understanding
•    Generalizations, and insights that you might make for other practitioners working in this field.
•    Impact on standards in the school context (e.g. pupil learning experiences, outcomes or quality of teaching/management.

3. There should be attached a reference list using the standard or “Harvard” referencing convention.
