Welcome to the Developing teaching and Learning group which combines those interested in a variety of aspects of teaching and learning including teaching learning for gifted and talented students, using ICT in the learning process and other topics. You will be expected to shape the tasks to your area of interest and specialism.

Module Information
The aims of this programme are:
• To explore the pedagogy, systems and structures of learning in the classroom.
• To investigate the current research into learning in order to improve practice
• To enable teachers to reflect on their own practice and develop innovative approaches to teaching
This programme is a blended course delivered on-line via HotSeats, web resources and materials and learning conversations. There will also be optional face to face sessions.
Start Date and Finish Date
This programme is a September 2011 start. Deadline for completion of portfolio and research is September 6th 2012
Syllabus and Assignment
This is an innovative module that looks at student learning and at ways to improve classroom practice. There are regular portfolio tasks plus an action enquiry.
Portfolio Tasks (3,000 words in total) will include:
• Active Learning and Thinking
• Assessment for Learning
• Modelling
• Questioning techniques
• Social Learning and group work
• ICT and Learning
• Behaviour management
You will collect data and try new approaches which you will comment on and add to your portfolio.
An Action Enquiry (9,000 words in total) containing:
• A needs analysis and justification for your focus (approx. 2,000)
• A literature review (approx. 2,500)
• An outline of data collection and analysis procedure (approx. 1,500)
• An analysis of the outcomes (approx. 3,000)
