1b - The plan

uploaded or emailed by Feb 20th

We would like all students to have created and either uploaded or emailed us their initial draft research plan by Feb 20th.

Once these are in and checked we can then distribute and divide into 'Learning Sets' - the system does not automatically advise us when new material has been uploaded into individual student's areas and we therefore ask you to kindly email us when you have uploaded your research plan into your own areas - once checked we'll provide feedback and give the green, amber red light to the plans for go-ahead.

So.....please.....Feb 20th for Draft plans in to myself, Detty, Maggie , Ruth or in your personal area (and notify us it's up online)

I have posted a couple of questions on the bulletin board, Is this the correct proceedure?
If we are doing the dissertation module and do a plan of a selected focus, will we get feedback if it is thought that the subject is impractical or not appropriate to the degree?
So many questions, I'm sorry but jsut need to get the focus right in my mind and one to be beneficial for my setting too!

Hi there -
The best protocol is to link up with someone from your group as a study partner.
Run you plan and all draft work by them first to proof read and have a brain storm on the aims of the task.
Next - pop the first draft into these discussion areas for peer review comments.
Last - send a revised copy to your academic tutor for feedback.
They can best guide you on the topic and how it matches your degree programme.

Hello Hamish, Sandra Brown and Ian
The following is my initial plan for PT4091. I have also emailed you. Task 1 from Module guide will be due in, by 20th feb. Thanks and look forward to feedback! Have a good week! Cheryl

What is the focus of your enquiry?

Montessori Method as Inclusive Education
Inclusive Education for Early years setting (16mths - 6yrs)
SEN, Inclusive Education within Norway - local context
SEBD research, study and policies in Norway
Teachers (local context) viewpoint in regards to SEN, Inclusive Education and SEBD
Self viewpoint as teacher, trainer and school advisor
Steiner method in Norway – it being a popular alternative to traditional kindergarten/school
Montessori + Steiner (differences, similarities, how it impact SEBD)
Society cohesion in Montessori
Society cohesion in Steiner
Parents viewpoint (local context)
Principles of Normalisation in Norway (Researchers – Bengt Nirje, Wolf Wolfensberger)

2. What questions are you trying to answer?

Can Montessori Method fit Norway and its culture?
Can Montessori Method be an Inclusive Ed?
How efficient will it be in Norway?
Can Society Cohesion (element in Montessori Method) lead to Inclusive Education?
Does Montessori Method satisfy Principles of Normalisation?

What are your hypotheses or hunches?
Montessori Method IS Inclusive Education
Montessori aids young children with SEBD (by having element of society cohesion in classroom setting)
Grace + courtesy (as part of teaching society cohesion within classroom) leads to culture, social integration : appeals to equality, social rights in Norway (local context)

Why are these questions and hypotheses important to you and your institution?
To create awareness of Montessori Method in Norway
To promote Montessori Method, not just as a form of progressive education, as an Inclusive Education
To justify how Montessori Method creates society cohesion, which in turn creates socially responsible young citizens
To recognize Montessori Method as efficient educational programme for integrating young children with SEBD into mainstream

What contextual information is important to bear in mind? (E.g. 'the school is single sex' or 'the children are year seven')
All teachers in school are Norwegian, yet understand English well
Society and local community keen on having Bilingual Montessori Programme (Norsk + English)
95% of children are Norwegian: Norsk being main language spoken.
Not fully trained Montessori qualified teachers – self acting as an advisor
Preschool trained teachers : young, lack of experience, different working attitude
Lot of sickness, absence among teachers: part timer staff who fills in, are often students.
High teaching staff turnover
