Conversation 9 - Conclusions
The conclusion section of your research report
By the end of this unit you will be able
- Construct a high quality conclusion which:
- Outlines what you have done and achieved
- Indicates where the work has met the MA level criteria
The Conclusion is a very important part of the work and should
not be rushed. It is the finishing summary rounding up what you have
done, what you have achieved and looks forward to future work.
It might be relatively brief as it can refer back to various sections in the work
You should refer back to your original aims, focus and intentions. Summarsie what you have shown in the literature review. Outline the methods you used and why. Summarise again what you have found that is useful to other researchers and practitioners.
Relate the whole work to the MA level descriptors (and especially those for in depth knowledge, for scholarship and research, for criticality and analysis leading to new insights and perspectives.
Don't forget your executive summary (which may help)
